Family Support Worker
Role of a Family Support Worker – Julie Whitworth
My role is really what the title suggests, I offer support to any family that attends Sycamore Academy.
What support can I offer?
It can be around almost anything as we all know being a parent / carer is far from being an easy job. It can be to offer support with children’s behaviour, boundaries and routines, anger management, emotional support or supporting children with any additional needs. It may be that families are experiencing Domestic Violence or relationship difficulties. It could be around more practical matters such as housing or benefits. I also have a wide knowledge of resources which are out in the community most of them you can access for free. If you need something and I am unable to help I usually know someone that can and will put you in touch with the relevant people.
Did you know that parents and carers can access courses at Sycamore Academy for free? We have already run a variety of courses including Literacy, ”Making the most of yourself Programme”, a course designed to raise confidence and support parents / carers to reach their own personal goals, as well as “Time for You” designed to give parents the opportunity to have some time to focus on themselves, and to build positive relationships with your children.
Our next course is “Digital Families” it will give adults the tools to understand ICT in school and the opportunity to earn a qualification.
